چکیده
The H.E.S.S. Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescope Array is currently the most sensitive instrument for Very High Energy (VHE) γ-ray observations in the energy range of about 0.1-10 TeV. During more than two years of operation with the complete 4-telescope array, many galactic and extragalactic VHE γ-ray sources have been discovered. With its superior sensitivity and its large field-of-view camera, H.E.S.S. is particularly suited for surveys and detailed studies of extended sources. A selection of recent H.E.S.S. results is presented in this proceeding.

Precision Measurement of Optical Pulsation using a Cherenkov Telescope
During 2003, a camera designed to measure the optical pulsations of pulsars was installed on a telescope of the H.E.S.S. array. The array is designed for γ-ray astronomy in the ∼ 100 GeV 100 TeV energy regime. The aims of this exercise were two-fold: to prove the pulsar timing capabilities of H.E.S.S. on all relevant time-scales, and to explore the possibility of performing sensitive optical pu...
متن کاملMicrosecond Time Resolution Optical Photometry using a H.E.S.S. Cherenkov Telescope
We have constructed an optical photometer with microsecond time resolution, which is currently being operated on one of the H.E.S.S. telescopes. H.E.S.S. is an array of four Cherenkov telescopes, each with a 107 m2 mirror, located in the Khomas highland in Namibia. In its normal mode of operation H.E.S.S. observes Cherenkov light from air showers generated by very high energy gamma-rays in the ...
متن کاملStudy of Galactic Sources with H.E.S.S
The H.E.S.S. imaging air Cherenkov telescope array has performed a blind survey at energies above 100 GeV of parts of the Galactic plane as well as dedicated (deeper) observations of gamma-ray source candidates.New sources including shell type super-nova remnants, pulsar-wind nebulae, binary systems, cosmic ray illuminated molecular clouds, as well as unidentified sources have been found. In th...

The H.E.S.S. experiment (High Energy Stereoscopic System) is a new generation atmospheric Cherenkov detector measuring high-energy (> 100 GeV) gamma radiation from the Universe. This paper briefly explains the imaging Cherenkov technique and describes the H.E.S.S. project and its current status.
متن کاملA Mirror Alignment Control System for H.E.S.S. Phase II
The H.E.S.S. experiment in Namibia, which currently consists of four Cherenkov telescopes, will be extended in phase II by a fifth, larger telescope. This new telescope with its 890 mirrors poses new challenges on the design of the Mirror Alignment Control System. Important features of the new developed design are, apart from the scalability for future experiments, the possibility to do a fast ...
